NEW DELHI, Jan 5: BJP national president Amit Shah today met senior leaders of the party’s Jammu and Kashmir unit over government formation in the state where the saffron party has emerged as the second largest party with 25 seats. BJP general secretary Ram Madhav and Minister of State in PMO Jitendra Singh were also present in the meeting at Mr Shah’s residence.
“Inputs from state unit of the party in Jammu and Kashmir were taken in the meeting,” Mr Madhav said after the meeting. He said suggestion was to take forward talks with the PDP, which has emerged as the single largest party in the fractured mandated produced by Assembly elections. The BJP won 25 seats, all from the Jammu region while the PDP has 28 seats, all from the Kashmir valley. Other two players — the National Conference (15) and the Congress (12) — remained in third and forth position respectively.
