JAMMU, Mar 9: BJP today demanded that separatist leader and mastermind of 2010 unrest in Kashmir Valley, Masarat Alam be rearrested under PSA.
The demand in this regard was made by a nine member delegation of Party Legislators led by MLA Kathua and BJP general secretary Rajiv Jasrotia who called on Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed here today.
Briefing the newsmen, BJP State chief spokesperson, Sunil Sethi along with State spokesperson & State Press Secretary Balbir Ram Rattan said that BJP has taken a serious exception to unilateral decision taken by CM over the release Masarat Alam.
Mr Sethi said that a delegation of BJP MLAs led by State general secretary Rajiv Jasrotia (MLA) called on the Chief Minister and submitted a memorandum showing the concern of the party over the release of separatist leader.
He said that the party, through the memorandum has strongly opposed and rejected the decision of releasing Masarat Alam and impressed that the conduct of Masarat Alam, after his release and the statements made by him and the situation existing now, are fresh inputs to consider his detention again under PSA which will be in the interest of the security of the State.
He said the memorandum made it clear that release of separatist will be detrimental to the security of the State.
Sethi further said that the party has also impressed that all pending FIRs against Masarat Alam, the challans of which have been presented should be immediately investigated and he should be dealt as per law.
The delegation which called on Chief Minister included MLC Vibodh Gupta, MLAs-Sat Sharma, Ajay Nanda, Dr. Gagan Bhagat, R.S. Pathania, Daleep Parihar, Shakti Parihar and Neelam Langeh.
The detailed memorandum is enclosed.
Sethi said BJP in its memorandum has made it clear that the coalition with PDP was formed in the larger national interest. Both the parties have agreed to provide good governance to masses and for the same a CMP was framed, he added.
It said within one week of the Government formation, unfortunately, number of statements have come out from PDP, which were not in consonance with the true spirit of the CMP and have put the BJP to embarrassment in public and its supporters.
Recent release of Masarat Alam, a person with known anti-India and pro-Pakistan ideology, in a hush-hush manner, has created a situation of not only embarrassment but concern for BJP with strong reactions coming not only from within the State but also from the whole country.
The BJP also forcefully urged that the “Steering Committee” as required by CMP, should be immediately constituted and all contentious issues should be discussed before taking any decision thereon.
