Jammu, Apr 22: A large number of women drawn from Gumat and adjoining areas of Jammu city held a massive protest against CAPD Department for bringing down the monthly quota of Kerosene oil. Led by BJP Mahila Morcha State President Priya Sethi, they were raising slogans against the CAPD Department for adding to the problems of poor and weaker sections of the society.
Priya Sethi, while speaking on the occasion, said that the Department of CAPD has been taking such decisions which, instead of providing any relief to the poor population, has been creating mor problems for the already suffering people.
She said that while the poor consumers are already suffering on account of bringing down of ration scale through ration depots, CAPD has now also brought down the quantity of kerosene oil to just five litres per family. She said that there are families which have 15-20 members and are dependent on kerosene oil for cooking purposes. For these families, provision of just five litres of kerosene oil cannot serve the purpose for more than 5-7 days and in such a situation, they have to buy same in black market on very high prices, which again put financial burden on them.
Priya Sethi said that the people are already suffering due to hike in the prices of food items, diesel etc. and the Government, instead of taking effective steps to control the prices, it is taking one decision after the other which directly affect the poor people. She asked the Government to direct the CAPD Department to with draw its anti- people decision at the earliest failing which more people will be coming on roads.
