BJP members walkout from Legislative Assembly

SRINAGAR : The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly today witnessed walkout by Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) members who alleged that they were not being allowed to speak in the House.

Immediately after the House met today for taking up the first Question of the last day of the session, BJP, National Panthers (NPP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members were on their feet trying to draw the attention of speaker Mubarak Gul to raise their issues.

Mr Gul said a member from all parties will be allowed to speak before the Question-hour.

However, the speaker took the issue of Marhama land grab and informed the House that he has received the documents about the deal from the Crime Branch (CB).

Later it turned into a discussion and allegation and counter allegation between ruling National Conference and PDP members.   Later, speaker allowed NPP leader in the House Haresh Dev Singh to raise his issue, who alleged discrimination.   Speaker allowed PDP member Nizam Uddin Bhat to speak who raised the issue of RSS Chief Mohan Bagwat’s statement. This led to slogan shouting between BJP and PDP members.   BJP leaders alleged that NC and PDP members were being allowed to speak while no member from the party has so far given an opportunity by the speaker.

Later, they staged a walkout from the House in protest. (AGENCIES)
