BJP MLAs hold protest rally, to take up sealing issue with CM

JAMMU, Feb 10: Extending support to the businessmen and citizens of holy town of Katra in their ongoing struggle against the sealing operation, Bharatiya Janata Party MLAs today took out protest rally in the town and assured the people to take up the issue with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah as well as Law Minister.
The protest rally was taken out from Bus Stand to Raghunath Mandir where the BJP MLAs led by State president, Jugal Kishore Sharma interacted with the 51 member Katra Action Committee framed by the prominent citizens and businessmen.
MLA Reasi, Baldev Raj Sharma apprised the party MLAs about the situation emerged in the town after the start of sealing exercise by the district administration. The members of the Action Committee told the BJP MLAs that if the Government failed to provide them respite from the sealing exercise, pilgrimage to the cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishnodevi would suffer immensely.
“In the second phase of our agitation even hotels, lodges and guest houses would join us and in such a situation pilgrims would suffer a lot”, they said and stressed that Government should immediately table a bill in the State Legislature for carrying out amendment in the Municipal Laws so that they could get respite from the sealing operation being carried out on the directions of the High Court.
While addressing the Action Committee members, the BJP MLAs assured that they would take up the issue with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and Law Minister, Mir Saifullah and urge them to timely table bill seeking amendment in the Municipal Laws.
Meanwhile, all the business establishments except hotels, lodges and guest houses remained closed in the town in response to 48 hours bandh call given by the Katra Action Committee. The bandh will continue tomorrow also and future course of action would be decided in a meeting to be held tomorrow evening at Raghunath Temple.
