JAMMU, June 24: Taking serious exception of State Government’s failure to relieve people of power and water crisis under which Jammu region is reeling at present, the BJP MLAs today warned to gherao the offices of PDD and PHE.
Talking to reporters here today BJP Legislative party leader, Ashok Khajuria along with party president and MLA Nagrota Jugal Kishore Sharma, MLA Marh Sukhnandan Kumar and MLA Suchetgarh Choudhary Sham said the people across the Jammu are passing sleepless nights and also crying for drinking water as the Government has failed to ensure the proper supply.
Taking a dig at Government Ashok Khajuria said it has become an annual feature that during the Summer the people of Jammu region have to face long duration power cuts soon after the darbar moves to Srinagar. Besides they also have to face scarcity of drinking water and no Government has ever paid any attention to solve this problem.
He said in Summer there is total scarcity of drinking water in rural as well as urban areas of Jammu. While 19 hour long power cuts are imposed in most areas of Jammu region, the drinking water is also not available for days together in various localities, he added.
Criticizing the Chief Minister, who also heads the PDD, Khajuria said his ministerial colleagues from Jammu are enjoying cool Summer nights in Valley without caring even for those who voted them.
He urged the Government to shun its policy of harassing Jammuites failing which BJP activists will be forced to ghearo PDD and PHE offices and senior officers of the departments and lock them in their offices.
The people of Jammu region are made to suffer due to the continuous discriminatory policies of the Government said Jugal Kshore Sharma who expressed his dismay over the prevailing power and water crisis faced by the people in the region during this sweltering heat.
He said even in metered areas where the Government had promised to provide round the clock power supply, the people face power cuts of long duration despite they make in time payments of power bills.
Sukhnandan Kumar said even in rural areas where the department has installed the metres the consumers are asked to make payments on flat rates which has no justification. He urged the Government not to test the patience of hapless consumers.
Sham Choudhary said that power crisis has hampered the irrigation water supply to farmers in rural areas as the hand pumps installed for irrigating land can’t function without power.
