BJP Morcha, others pay tributes to Shaheed Amarnath Bhagat

JAMMU, June 1: To remember contributions of Amar Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath for the cause of downtrodden sections of society, BJP Anusuchit Jati Morcha organised impressive function on 46th Shaheedi Diwas of the leader, here today.
The function was organised at the park opposite Civil Secretariat. The site has historical importance as Bhagat Ji sat on fast unto death in the park for the cause of reservation in the State.
Member Parliament and President State BJP Jugal Kishore Sharma was chief guest on the occasion.
MLA, Chhamb Dr. Krishan Lal, Senior Leader BJP Yudhvir Sethi and MLA, Jammu East Rajesh Gupta were guests of honour. The leaders paid floral tributes to Shaheed Amarnath and a hawan was also performed on the occasion.
While extending full support to the cause of marginalised strata of the society, Jugal Kishore said the Government is committed to ameliorate the lot of downtrodden sections and a number of welfare initiatives have been launched both by the State as well as Union Governments
He said Bhagat Amarnath sacrificed his life for the cause of his community and stands tallest among the leaders of the community in the State.
Remembering Shaheed Amarnath, Dr. Krishan said the provisions of reservation were not extended in the State which was a big hurdle in the path of emancipation of Dalits and the late leader started fast unto death on the issue. He said younger generations should be made aware about such stalwarts who sacrificed for the community.
Pledging support to cause of the community, Yudhvir said Shaheed Bhagat Amarnath made the supreme sacrifice of his life for the oppressed sections of society and the government was forced to accept the just demands of the scheduled caste community.
While speaking on the occasion, State President, BJP Aunsuchit Jaati Morcha Surinder Bhagat said the community is indebted to the sacrifice of Bhagat Amarnath and with active support of BJP and its leaders a statue would be constructed to honour the great leader. The demand of statue was pending for over 40 years and successive Governments failed to fulfill the demand, he added.
Prominent among those who organised the event include, Daughter of Shaheed Amarnath Chanchala Bhagat, president, All India Confederation of SC/ST R.K. Kalsotra, BJP leader Bansi Lal Bharti, M.R. Bangotra, District president, BJP Subash Jandial and others.
The Shaheeddi   Divas of Amar Nath Bhagat was celebrated at Kathua also under the chairmanship of Roshan Choudhary coordinator cum president of All India Confederation of SC/ST/OBC organizations and Lord Buddha Club of India Unit J&K in close coordination with other social organizations and prominent dignitaries of Kathua today.
Choudhary while throwing light on the life and struggle of late leader said he championed the cause of poor and down-trodden and fought for it throughout his life. He said the late leader laid down his life for the cause of down-trodden sections of society and his name will be written with golden letters in the annals of history.
