NEW DELHI : Police today arrested two men after they allegedly barged into Delhi BJP chief and MP Manoj Tiwari’s residence and roughed up two of his staff members.
The two men — who are brothers — were travelling in a car which bumped into a vehicle driven by one of Tiwari’s staffers just outside the MP’s house in Lutyens’s Delhi at around 1.30 AM.
The brothers called their friends who arrived armed with rods in a tempo and thrashed the MP’s staff, a Tiwari aide said.
They then entered his residence through a gate meant for public entry and tried to ransack the premises, a senior police officer said.
Soon after the incident, Tiwari tweeted, “My residence at 159 North Avenue has been ransacked by 8 to 9 people.”
Tiwari’s aides claimed that the group of men also abused them while demanding to see Tiwari.
It is learnt that the BJP MP was not at home when the incident took place.
“It looks like a conspiracy and the police are involved in it. No one should be spared,” Tiwari said. (AGENCIES)
