BJP national meet to decide on strategy for ‘Mission 272+’

NEW DELHI, Jan 10:
The BJP’s three-day national meeting, to be held here from January 17, will decide on a strategy to achieve its ‘Mission 272+’ in the coming general elections this year.
“It (the three-day meeting) will be a huge brainstorming session to decide on the strategy to achieve 272+ seats in the Lok Sabha to form a stable Government at the Centre under the leadership of Narendra Modi,” BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar today told reporters after a meeting of the party’s Parliamentary Board.
The Parliamentary Board meeting, which was attended by BJP national president Rajnath Singh, patriarch L K Advani and other senior leaders, discussed about the agenda to be taken up during the party’s National Executive (on January 17) and National Council (on January 18-19).
The BJP’s national office bearers will meet on January 16 to finalise the agenda for the three-day meeting. The national meet will be attended by all the party Chief Ministers, Ministers, MPs, MLAs and other state units’ leaders.”This will be the biggest conclave of the party ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. We will pass two resolutions — one on political situation and another on economic situation in the national meeting,” Mr Kumar said.
Mr Kumar said the political resolution will include the current political situation in the country and “corruption and scams” by the Congress-led UPA Government. The former Union Minister said the economic resolution will contain price rise, unemployment and other issues. He said “Modi for PM” campaign, which will be started from January 12, will be taken across the country.
“We have a single challenge before us as to how the BJP can get 272+ seats in the Lok Sabha. The Congress is not in the battle field. Only the BJP can fill up this space. Mr Modi is the only alternative before the country,” the BJP leader said. Mr Kumar said result of the recent Assembly polls in four states, where the Congress was routed, shows that the ruling party at the Centre “is out of the race”. “…it becomes all the more important that the BJP utilises this great opportunity. The Congress’ countdown has started. Only the BJP will fill up this space. We will expand the NDA also,” he said.
However, Mr Kumar evaded a direct reply whether the BJP was considering the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) as a challenge in the Lok Sabha polls. (UNI)
