JAMMU, Feb 1: Ruling BJP and Opposition National Conference MLAs today clashed in the Assembly after BJP State president and MLA Jammu West Sat Sharma ‘CA’ submitted a video to Speaker Kavinder Gupta in which, he said, NC MLA from Mendhar, Javed Rana could be seen clapping on the demand of ‘Azadi’ for Jammu and Kashmir.
Raising the issue after Question Hour, Sat Sharma said NC MLA Javed Rana could be seen clapping on the demand for ‘Azadi’, made by a student, in the video on the Republic Day. He demanded apology from Rana.
However, Rana while replying to the allegations, said that people in the bordering belts, who are daily facing ceasefire violations by Pakistan, are real nationalists.
“People of Rajouri and Poonch enthusiastically participate in every national programme but there are forces, who are trying to create communal wedge and disturb peace and harmony in the state,” he said.
He added that situation is being created to divide the nation, saying, “some people were protesting on Republic Day against the Government over discrimination issue but different colour was given to it.”
“Where were you in 1947, 1965, 1971? The people of border belts stood for the nation at that time,” he said. However, NC MLA Altaf Kalloo in between interrupted and said, “we want ‘Azadi’ from BJP in J&K.”
NC MLA from Nagrota Devender Rana said the J&K BJP has let down the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially of Jammu, who voted them to power to get their aspirations fulfilled.”
Devender Rana told the BJP that their election slogans have turned out to be hollow as they befooled people of Jammu on the name of votes and were now doing nothing for them.
“We are true Indians. You are anti-people and anti-nationals. We are the savior of the nation while you are trying to create communal divide,” Rana shouted.
