JAMMU, July 28: As a run up to coming Assembly elections BJP today appointed eight Party leaders as in charge of eight Assembly segments in the State.
Announcing this at a press conference here BJP State president Jugal Kishore Sharma said eight BJP leaders have been appointed as in-charge of eight Assembly constituencies and decision to this effect was taken in Party’s Election Committee meeting which was held here last night to discuss the poll strategy for coming Assembly elections.
Sharma said the meeting which was chaired by him was also attended by BJP in charge for J&K and MP, Avinash Rai Khanna and co-in charge of the State, R P Sigh.
He said senior BJP leader, Chander Prakash Ganga was appointed in charge for Vijaypur Assembly segment, Pardeep Sharma for Poonch Assembly segment, Dina Nath Bhagat for Chenani (Reserved) constituency, Shakti Parihar for Doda constituency, Dalip Singh Parihar for Bhaderwah constituency and Sunil Sharma for Kishtwar constituency. The election committee also appointed two BJP leaders from Kashmir as in-charge of two Assembly constituencies, he added.
He said Dr Hina Bhat was appointed as in charge Amira Kadal constituency and Sofi Yousuf for Pahalgam Assembly segment.
However Party sources told Excelsior that they will be probable candidates for these constituencies as well.
Sharma said apart from discussing various names of Party candidates for the coming Assembly elections, the members of the Committee also worked out a comprehensive strategy to achieve the Party’s Mission 44+ in the State. “They emphasized the need for the formation of BJP Government in the State”, he added.
He said Jammu & Kashmir is a sensitive border State, which needs a Government that harmonizes inter-regional relations, treats all the three regions of the State and the people all these regions equally, checks the growth of fissiparous tendencies in the State, maintain social and communal harmony and mitigates the hardships of refugees of all categories, including those from PoJK and West Pakistan,” he added.
He said the BJP will field candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections who have a good public image and are committed to the people of State and the country.
