JAMMU, Aug 11: Calling upon the BJP to give a peep into its own dirty laundry before criticizing Aam Aadmi Party in the name of freebies, former Minister and AAP leader Harsh Dev Singh said that the saffron flavoured Government had allowed open loot of public money by its own party leaders and other corporates and its wealthy friends deliriously oblivious of the sufferings of the common masses.
He asked Government to release a statement on pending electricity dues of former BJP legislators and ministers and to disconnect their electricity connections for non-payment of dues before disconnecting electricity of poor families.
Addressing a press conference here today, former Minister and AAP leader Harsh Dev Singh said that by criticizing AAP for giving free power, water, education and healthcare to the people especially the poor, the BJP had rendered itself as an object of contemptuous humorous disparagement.
“While it was the duty of a welfare state to provide essential services to the people especially the marginalized sections at state expense, the BJP was obliging its multi millionaire friends by waiving off their loans and providing them tax concessions while subjecting the poor people to heavy taxation in the form of GST, excise duty, road cess, toll tax, stamp duties.” Singh said.
Launching a scathing attack on BJP leadership for opposing the AAP’s policy of free power and water to the poor and marginalized sections by dubbing them as freebies and describing them as dangerous for financial health of country, Singh advised these leaders to clear their own pending bills running in several lacs in individual cases and which have been allowed a sort of immunity by the Govt.
“While a poor man is divested of his power connection in J&K on non payment of bills amounting to few hundreds, the powerful BJP leaders are allowed to use unlimited electricity without paying any bills,” he said.
Harsh Dev Singh said the BJP Govt has waived off loans of its rich friends and corporates amounting to Rs 11 lakh crore, besides having reduced corporate tax from 35 percent to 25 percent, it was opposing free power, water, education and health care to poor and downtrodden. “What an irony. Does this Govt have any right to represent the teeming millions of this country facing starvation and livelihood crisis?” questioned the AAP leader.
