JAMMU, Jan 25: Ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president, Jammu South Rekha Mahajan held a one-day workshop on Shakti Vandan – women’s Self Help Groups and NGOs contact campaign at BJP headquarters, here today.
The meeting was held in the presence of former Dy CM Kavinder Gupta, Programme Incharge; former MLA Devinder Singh Rana, Vice President BJP J&K, Anuradha Charak; former Minister Sham Lal Choudhary, District Prabhari Ayodhya Gupta and others.
Speaking on the occasion, Devender Rana pointed out towards empowerment of women “achieved under the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “There is a need to look at the national scene in terms of pre- and post-2014 cut-off year. Modi has definitely accorded deserved respect to women,” he said.
Rekha Mahajan addressed the inaugural session and talked about the action plan and outline prepared for the campaign from District Jammu South to block levels in rural and urban areas. She appealed all to come together to make the “Shakti Vandan” campaign a success.
Kavinder Gupta emphasizes the importance of empowering women in social, economic, political, and spiritual spheres for India to achieve its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
Anuradha Charak explained in detail about the programme and formulated a strategy to reach out to NGOs and self-help groups ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha polls. She informed that under the Ministry of Rural Development, around 11 million women’s groups are active throughout the country, in which around 11 million women are associated.
Ayodhya Gupta noted that the dream of women empowerment and self-reliance seen by Prime Minister Modi will be fulfilled. ex MLC Vikram Randhawa, former Dy Mayor Baldev Billowaria also spoke on the occasion.
District General Secretary and Programme District Convenor Akash Chopra ,Coconvenor Divya Jain, District team of Self help Groups and Mandal teams were present in the workshop.
Akash Chopra conducted proceedings of the programme while District General Secretary Pushpinder Charak presented vote of thanks .
Meanwhile Pardeep Sharma and Suraj Rana were nominated as District Publicity Secretary while Adv Uma Kapahi and Nitin Mahajan were nominated as district Media Secretary.
