JAMMU, June 23: Jammu & Kashmir, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) paid glowing tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee by organizing various programmes across Union Territory to commemorate the Balidan Diwas of this great leader and founder of Bharatiya Jana Sangh.
J&K BJP president, Ravinder Raina accompanied by party general secretaries, Vibodh Gupta and Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal paid tribute to the great ideologue at BJP Headquarters, Trikuta Nagar, here, today.
Former MLC Ashok Khajuria, BJP secretary, Ayodhya Gupta, office secretary, Tilak Raj Gupta, media secretary, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, Library incharge, Prof Kulbhushan Mohtra, district president, Rekha Mahajan, All Cell co-Incharge, Ved Sharma, Shailja Gupta, Subhash Gupta, Dil Bahadur Jamwal, Ajay Gupta and other party leaders also paid tribute Dr Mookherjee.
Ashok Koul, general secretary (organization), paid tribute to Dr. Mookherjee at Polling Booth No 56, 58, Baba Dhansar Mandal at Reasi. He was accompanied by BJP secretary, Arvind Gupta, district president Rohit Dubey, former MLA, Baldev Raj Sharma, Shashi Gupta, Shiv Sharma, Ramesh Kumar and others.

Ravinder Raina, while paying tribute said that Dr Mookherjee sacrificed his life while agitating to end the permit system under which anyone leaving or entering the State had to obtain a permit, a practice which did not exist in any other State of the country. It was through the sacrifices of Dr. Mookherjee that Jammu and Kashmir is fully integrated with the rest of the country and it was considered as one of the great steps for the national interest.
Ashok Koul, while paying tribute to the great ideologue, said that the foundation of BJP is laid on the vision of Dr. Mookherjee and Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayay for the welfare of whole mankind.
Dr. Devinder Manyal, conducted the proceedings of the programme.
To pay tribute to Dr Mookherjee another programme was held by Jammu East Constituency Citizen Forum. A blood donation camp under the leadership of Parmod Kapahi was organised at Trikuta Yatri Niwas Amphalla. The programme started with paying floral tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee which was followed by organising a blood donation camp.
Total 27 people donated blood on the occasion. The stage was conducted by Kuldeep Kandhari and Karan Singh.
Senior BJP leader Devender Singh Rana today said the overall transformation, holistic development and obtaining peace in Jammu and Kashmir post Abrogation of Article 370 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the best tribute to Dr Syama Prasad Mookherjee, who offered supreme sacrifice for’ Ek Vidhan, Ek Nishan, Ek Pradhan’.
“The supreme sacrifice of Dr Mookherjee this day in 1953 turned to be a motivation for the people across the nation in general and the millions of the BJP Karykartas in particular to emotionally integrate Jammu and Kashmir fully with rest of the country.
Rana said the revocation of the provisos of Article 370 from the Indian Constitution did not only redraw the political contours of the country but also heralded a new era of unity, integration, and progress in Jammu and Kashmir. The vistas of opportunities here unfolded their latent potential, empowering them to take the fruits of development and progress enjoyed by their fellow citizens across the country. The bold initiatives brought a new hope for marginalised and weaker sections like Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Valmiki, refugees, women and the other segments, he added.
Parmodh Kapahi district president Jammu while paying tribute to the great ideologue, said that the foundation of BJP is laid on the vision of Dr. Mookherjee and Pt Deen Dayal Upadhayay for the welfare of whole mankind.
BJYM President Arundev Singh Jamwal and party senior leader and former Dy Mayor, Baldev Singh Billawaria also paid tribute to Dr Mookherjee on the occasion and highlighted his contribution.
In this programme senior BJP leader, Narayan Singh , Parduman Singh, Ayodhya Gupta, Rajni Sethi, Veenu Khanna, Y.V.Sharma, Surinder Singh Gilly, Somnath Khajuria paid tribute to Dr Mookherjee.
The vote of thanks was proposed by Anu Rajesh Gupta and Brijesh Gupta.
Another function was organised by BJP OBC Morcha led by its president, Sunil Prajapati at Ward 17 here. The gathering paid rich tribute to this great leader of the country on the occasion and termed him a great patriot. They said it was the result of his sacrifice that permit system was abolished in J&K.
Former Member Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and ex State president, BJP, Shamsher Singh Manhas also paid floral tribute to Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee on his death anniversary at Paloura near, here along with other party colleagues.
While addressing the gathering Manhas said Dr. Shyama Prasad Mookherjee was martyred for the cause of integrating Kashmir with the rest of India. He was detained for 45 days for defying permit system, which required Indians to seek a permit to enter Kashmir. His death in prison shook the country and the permit system was ended. A slogan of the period was “Nahi Chalengey Ek Desh Mein Do Vidhan, Do Pradhan Aur Do Nishan,” he added.
Glowing tribute were paid to Dr Mookherjee at Srinagar in Kashmir Valley today by BJP leaders. The party organised a function at BJP Office, Jawahar Nagar under the leadership of district president, Ashok Bhat in which party leaders from different parts of Kashmir paid floral tribute to this great national leader and recalled his sacrifices for the national cause.
Those who paid tribute to Dr Mookherjee included party vice presidents Ashok Koul and Bashir Ahmed Mir, Mudasar Bazaz, Saba Ali and others. They said that Dr Mookherjee can always be remembered for his sacrifice in total integration of J&K with rest of country.
