JAMMU, July 23: State Bharatiya Janata Party,(BJP) paid rich tributes to Kuldeep Verma the martyr of 2008 Amarnath land row agitation at a function held at party headquarters here, today.
The party leaders remembered his supreme sacrifice during the agitation at the ‘Shradanjali Sabha’.
The party also remembered and paid tributes to over a dozen other people who attained the martyrdom during the agitation.
This Shradanjali Sabha was held under BJP State president, Ravinder Raina along with State general secretary (Org.), Ashok Kaul, State general secretaries, Dr. Narinder Singh, Yudhvir Sethi and it was attended by other office bearers and senior leaders of the party.
While paying tributes to Kuldeep Verma, Raina,  said that it was due to the his sacrifice that 2008 land row agitation got a new turn and brought the people of entire Jammu province together irrespective of their caste and creed. He said that it was a historical agitation which displayed the unity of the people and the entire world witnessed the agony and pain of the common masses and appreciated the concern of people.
He said that the agitation progressed under very difficult circumstances.
Raina alleged that then ruling dispensation played with the emotions and faith of people to please their Pakistani bosses, by virtually trying to stop Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. Then Government tried to snatch the land of Shri Amarnath Shrine Board, but our society, our people fought with valor.
Numerous persons sacrificed their lives for their rights and pride. Martyr Kuldeep Verma and over dozen other persons laid down their lives in the process, he added.
Raina, said that former CM Omar Abdullah, who was MP at that time, incited the sentiments of people by giving anti people statement in Parliament and dropping hints that he could take any extreme step to curb the voice of patriotic people taking part in the agitation. “The people were not demanding any thing for themselves but the restoration of land to holy shrine, he added.
He said the parties like Congress, NC, PDP leaders hatched a conspiracy against the patriotic people of the State.
Raina said that martyr Kuldeep Verma and others gave their lives for the nation, for the society and for their beliefs. And we all pray for the eternal peace of the great souls in the feet of supreme God.
Later, all the BJP leaders paid floral tributes to the martyr.
