JAMMU, July 31: J&K BJP paid glowing tributes to the Shaheed Udham Singh on his death anniversary at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, here, today.
J&K BJP general secretary (Org.) Ashok Kaul along with party vice-president, Aseem Gupta, party general secretary Dr. D.K. Manyal(former Minister), party media secretary, Dr. Pardeep Mahotra, party Mahila Morcha president, Sanjita Dogra, Anita Gandotra, Neeta Sharma, Ravinder Singh Jamwal and other senior party leaders paid tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh on his martyrdom day today.
The party leaders paid floral tributes on the portrait of the martyr and spoke about the need to encourage patriotism among the young generation. The stories of his life and achievements were discussed during the event.
Ashok Kaul, while paying his tributes to the martyr, said that Udham Singh had restored national pride by avenging the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. He said the martyr would be remembered for centuries to come. He said society should learn to respect its heroes and martyrs, as they were the ones because of whom, people are enjoying freedom today. He recalled that how the Udham Singh had killed Michael O’Dawyer, a former Lieutenant General of Punjab in British rule.
Dr. D. K. Manyal discussed about the life, struggles and sacrifices of the freedom fighter. He said that Shaheed Udham Singh lived an exemplary live. The nation is proud of him. He played a huge role in inspiring young minds at the time of the freedom struggle, he said.
