In a joint statement senior BJP leaders, including Speaker of the Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta, Forest Minister Bali Bagat, PHE Minister Chaudhary Sukhnandan, BJP state spokesperson Arun Gupta, and others said, “Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad was a true nationalist and a visionary person. The Government of India and Ministry of Defence on many occasions recognized his contribution and honoured him.”
The BJP leaders said, “Nationalists like late Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad were sidelined by the National Conference and Congress as they feared that such people can pose a threat to family Raaj in JK. BJP salutes nationalists like late Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad, who worked towards the national cause for their entire life.”
Late Sheikh Ghulam Mohammad was the cousin of first IPS officer of the State Shiekh Qadir Ganderbali and father of incumbent BJP spokesman Khalid Jehangir. “A special prayer meeting was organized at his native place Ganderbal on Saturday to commemorate his death anniversary and remember his contribution towards the national cause,” a BJP spokesman said.
