CHHATROO, July 24: The J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC),  vice president and Member of Legislative Assembly from Inderwal,  Ghulam Mohammad Saroori  today alleged that BJP and PDP were trying to divide people on the regional and communal lines.
While interacting with the people at  Sinthan and Chhatroo today,  the senior Congress leader and former minister  alleged that both PDP and BJP were working on their agenda of creating wedge among the people of Kashmir and  Jammu  regions  on the regional and religious/ communal lines.  A  new  controversy has been raised or implementation of  Kashmiri in Jammu educational institutions. He said such tactics are being played just to create wedge between the people two regions.
Highlighting merits of  unity and reminding people of the sacrifices made by Congress to strengthen communal harmony,  solidarity and unison between various sections of the society in the State, Saroori said that dividing people in the name of region or religion can be the handwork of ‘pen and ink pot’  (symbol of PDP) or ‘Kamal’ (symbol of BJP), but the Congress has always worked to unite the communities and harmonize in Jammu and Kashmir especially in Inderwal.
“The slogan of Hindu, Muslim Sikh Itihad Zindabad  practiced and nurtured by Mahatma Gandhi has remained the governing principle of Congress political policy”, he said and vowed his party’s determination to further strengthen this characteristic.
Advising the people of the area to live in harmony and reject those who try to wedge them apart on communal lines, Saroori told them to complement each others’ efforts aimed at welfare and development of weaker sections. He said some elements want to divide them for vested interests. He asked them to beware of this conspiracy and exhibit their unity in fighting poverty and injustice. He said Congress symbolizes their aspirations and works for their unity to help their equitable, holistic and all round development.
