BJP-PDP engineered polarization as tactical understanding: Mir

Rajouri, May 9:  Pradesh Congress Committee president Ghulam Ahmed Mir today said that PDP-BJP had polarized the polity in the State in furtherance of the pre-poll tactical understanding in order to secure the mandate of people in respective regions, by raising their sentiments of respective regions of the State.
Addressing one day convention of  Congress workers of district Rajouri Mr Mir said that the two parties had hidden understanding before the election to polarize the sentiments of people of Kashmir and Jammu regions as part of their strategy in which they succeeded, as the people could not understand the politics of deception for the sake of electoral gains.  He said that the delay in the formation of the Government after declaration of results was only to cover up their pre-poll understanding and the common minimum programme was an eye wash to hoodwink the people of the State.
PCC chief said that Congress never indulge in divide and communal slogan as it has a national duty to maintain the secular fabric and to act as a unifying force for which our great leaders gave their supreme sacrifices.  He urged the party workers to unitedly fight for the issues of people and expose the failure and contradiction of State Government.
He said that Congress would continue to raise the issues of people both inside and outside the legislature and the parliament. He criticized the Central and State Government for failing to procure the relief of Rs 44000 crore for the rain and flood affected people of the State. He said that Chief Minister Mufti Sayeed had justified joining hands with BJP to secure financial support for the State, but the present Government using repressing measures against employees and workers who are protesting for their genuine demands like wages and regularization.
Mir also criticized the Government for its anti-youth policy, as the proposed recruitment policy would spoil the future of educated unemployed youth of the State. He lashed out at Central Government for its failure in all fronts and persuing the policy to favour big Corporate houses and rich at the cost of farmers and poor people in the country.
Senior leader Sham Lal Sharma asked party leaders and workers to vigorously launch membership drive in the districts and said that genuine party workers would be recognized from the grass root level. He said that to strengthen the Congress at all levels, shortcomings would be identified and grievances of workers would be addressed to galvanise and re-energize the party in order to play the desired role to win back the faith of the people.
Prominent among others who spoke on the occasion included  Rigzin  Jora,  Shabir Ahmed Khan,  Shah Mohammad, Manmohan Singh, Shahnawaz Choudhary, Ch Mohammad Akram (MLA), Indu Pawar, Ashok Sharma, Ch Sain Rasheed, Iqbal Malik, Ch  Tassaduq Hussian, Parveen Akhtar, Shafeeq Mir, Masood Choudhary, Lovely Gupta, Sajjad Tariq, Iqbal Shawl, Pushpinder Gupta, Susheel Sharma,  Manju Sharma,  Yaqoob Mughal, Raj Kumar Sharma, Haji Ajaz, Moulvi Gulzar, Som Raj Khajuria and Zahid Abbas.
Earlier, a rousing reception was accorded to PCC Chief at Sunderbani, where Sarpanchs, Panchs, prominent citizens and leaders of Block Congress Committees Sunderbani and Nowshera welcomed the new PCC Chief on his first visit to Rajouri and Poonch.
