JAMMU, Feb 28: Former minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today said that both BJP and PDP are losing their ground in their respective constituencies and now stand exposed before the people.
Addressing party workers’ meeting at Belicharana in Gandhi Nagar constituency here today, Mr Bhalla alleged that the coalition partners utterly failed to deliver on any of the promises they made to the people in their ‘agenda for alliance’. “It has been a general disappointment. I don’t think, their performance has anything striking so far,” Mr Bhalla said adding that both the parties are losing ground in their respective constituencies.
He said the biggest challenge for the coalition Government was the rehabilitation of the people affected by the September 2014 deluge that marooned the Srinagar city. Both the coalition partners had promised a swift response. But the affected people are still waiting for the relief package.
Describing the ten month BJP-PDP rule in the State as a period of decadence, non- development, non- governance and lawlessness, former minister said that the people of the State were fast realizing the havoc caused during the period by the unholy and opportunist alliance of the erstwhile coalition government. He said that the people had not only dis-approved out-rightly the idea of alliance of two diametrically opposed parties but had also expressed their strong disapproval of the ‘agenda of alliance’ which offered nothing to the people except a power sharing formula to the coalition partners.
He said that the people of Jammu region were feeling cheated and betrayed as none of the pre-poll pledges by the BJP during elections had been incorporated in the agenda of alliance. He regretted that gullible people of the Jammu region who had been seduced and mesmerized by the highly seductive slogans of BJP were utterly dis-illusioned.
The Congress leader alleged that Prime Minister Modi spread falsehood about the Congress party and UPA but soon the people in different parts have felt that the elections slogans were coined as mere ‘Jumlas’ and the BJP Government has failed to fulfill even a single promise. Instead of ‘Achhe Din’, people now want return of old days, as the prices of all essential commodities have been touching the record highest rates so far and Government has utterly failed to provide the ration as per old scales to each family as per 2001 censes, while it was misleading people of the State on the claim of providing ration as per 2011 censes.
Mr Bhalla lashed out at BJP for its total surrender on the core issues, which it used to exploit the people of Jammu region, like Article 370, citizenship to West Pakistan refugees, philosophy of Shyama Prasad Mookerjee and all other issues of people of Jammu region. The BJP stand exposed for its double standards, he maintained.
