BJP-PDP owe explanation to people for ongoing uncertainty: PCC

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Jan 25: Pradesh Congress Committee today said that both coalition partners, PDP and BJP,  owe an explanation to the people of the State  for the ongoing uncertainty.
The top brass of the Congress party which met here today to discuss the prevailing political scenario in the State, in the wake of ongoing un- certainty over formation of a popular Government in the State, observed that the prevailing atmosphere of uncertainty has put the onus on the Governor, as the Constitutional  head  of the State, to explore the possibility of formation of  the Govt at the earliest.
The meeting which was presided over by the PCC president GA Mir also took stock of the problems being faced by the common people besides reviewing the organizational affairs, especially the progress in the ongoing membership drive of the party. It was attended by the senior leaders of the party including senior functionaries of  PCC and legislators (MLAs/MLCs).
The meeting viewed  that the ongoing uncertainty over the formation of Government in the  State is the matter of great concern for the people as their day today problems are getting compounded, as the Governor’s rule, howsoever best it may be, cannot be  a substitute to a popular Government.  This kind of uncertainty is an indication of the fact that the two coalition partners (PDP-BJP) who had come together for the Government formation  after cutting across their stated positions  on various issues, did not feel fully satisfied amongst themselves also, what to talk of the people  who felt cheated and betrayed.
The  eruption of numerous controversies  over various  issues between the two coalition partners  putting the people  of the State in deep trouble, at times, during the  short period of 10 months   under  an experienced leadership of  Mufti Mohd Sayeed further vindicates this view  of  their inherent contradictions. The two coalition partners owe an explanation to the people for the ongoing uncertainty.
Reiterating the commitment of Congress party to strengthen the democratic and secular traditions in the State for the  broader unity, the  PCC members said that Congress is the only secular force which is  committed to  defeat the designs of the communal and divisive forces whicxh are posing a challenge to the secular fabric in the State and elsewhere in the country.
Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Peerzada Mohd Sayeed, Sham Lal Sharma, Amrit Malhotra,  Madan Lal Sharma, Tara Chand, Rigzin Jora, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Jahangir Mir, Jugal Kishore, Ch Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Haji Abdul Rashid, Mula Ram,  Raman Bhalla, Ghulam Nabi Monga, Kanta Bhan, Ravinder Sharma,  Rajnish Sharma, Farooq Andrabi, Balwan Singh, Majid Wani, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, Yogesh Sawhney, Shabir Ahmed Khan, Mohd Amin Bhat, Usman Majid, Asgar Karbalai, Viqar Rasool, Mumtaj Khan, Naresh Gupta,  Manjeet Singh, Gulzar Wani, SS Channi, Deldan Namgyal,  Ch Mohd.
