BJP playing divisive politics on divisional status to Ladakh: Kichloo

KISHTWAR, Dec 10: Senior National Conference leader and former Minister Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo said that BJP once again was playing its divisive politics on the name of divisional status to Ladakh in view of the forthcoming Assembly and Parliamentary elections.
While expressing his opposition to recent legislative changes made by Governor Satya Pal Malik in Jammu & Kashmir, Kichloo demanded Autonomous Hill Development Councils for the Pir Panjal and the Chenab regions in the Jammu division.
“We are not against granting the status of a division to Ladakh. But if Ladakh gets divisional status and the Chenab Valley and the Pir Panjal are neglected, so this is unacceptable and we are criticising the Governor’s administration for such a discriminatory decision.
He further added that J&K is sensitive State and now a days Jammu and Kashmir is facing several challenges like terrorism, unemployment, drug addiction etc, so this kind of controversial statement and some interpretations into the constitutional validity of J&K also drag it in a wrong way. It is not wise fiddling with the constitutional status  till a popular Government is in power, he added.
Kichloo alleged that Governor surprisingly tried to change the status of the Jammu & Kashmir Bank into a Public Sector Undertaking and modify the Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) law “but had to reverse the decisions.”
NC leader said that the patron of party Dr Farooq Abdullah said that his party would grant autonomy to various regions of the State if it came to power next time. He warned the Government that its divisive policy will prove counter productive for the State.
