BJP’s victory over 25 seats without much struggle excepting Modi Wave, which is being vociferously negated by the opponent political quarters, has sent across a galvanic shock through the spine of all their counter-parts across the state. The Kashmir based NC and PDP are in a state of stupor right now and are at a cross-road to understand as to what has happened. Now the exercises for forming the Government are going on. The PDP with a little larger number of seats than that of BJP is compelled either to sit in opposition or to form the Government with the support of BJP for one main major reason i.e. because the Center is controlled by the BJP itself and all funds and bounties have to trickle down into the state from the ‘Delhi shahi Darbar which is under the seal and stamp of the Modi sarkar’. Otherwise Kashmiri power-clot never likes even to see a Muslim of Jammu in power what to speak of a non-Muslim. Just keep to permanent control over power in the Government, the assembly seats have been fixed in such a fashion that even if the entire Jammu stands against the Kashmiri leadership, the latter can even then grab power absolutely. No norm, no specification and no principles have been observed to divide the entire state into Assembly Constituencies. One Constituency of Jammu can be equal to two or three Assembly Constituencies of Kashmir in most of the cases. If the Assembly Constituencies of Jammu and Kashmir state are re-organised at the rate of fixed number of voters, the Jammu Province can have much more number of the seats than that of Kashmir. But this has been done deliberately by the Kashmiri leadership just to dominate the Jammu province at all fronts. Right from 1947 the Jammu region has been subjected to the step-motherly treatment. Kashmiris suffered during militancy for the faults best known to them, need not to remind them of, and got special packages from the centers and belched out even the share of Jammu region for decades together. In every sphere, Jammu region has been neglected.
The tourism of this area especially that of Rajouri, Poonch, has deliberately been kept unattended and under-developed so that the Kashmir tourism does not get affected. In the field of employment and every other domain we did get nothing till yesterday. If we got 10 rupees, the remaining 90 rupees first went to Kashmir. When I was a child, I got some kgs of flour from the market. When it was opened, some insects were found in it. I earnestly asked my mother as to why these insects were there in the flour, she replied, “Beta ek number atta Kashmir mein jata hai aur 10 number atta hum Jammu walon ko milta hai, isi liye is mein keede hein.” This reply of my mother shocked me so much. We have seen that time also when we psychologically suffered and mentally were tortured. We have always lived and thrived on the left-over food of Kashmir region. Our leaders of Jammu either were not in a position to restore our rights to us or they did not do it deliberately. By cutting both the ways they are responsible to the people of Jammu region.
Now the nature has given a golden opportunity to the BJP to come to power and those who till yesterday considered this party as an untouchable are now knocking at its door for support. It is all predestined. A chance has been given to the BJP to strike the balance and do the justice to their people. We have long pending issues and problem which require instant redressal which is possible only when the Jammu-oriented leadership is there on the podium of power. The BJP leadership of the state and its High Command must always keep in mind that if today they come to power, they will be able to improve their position in future otherwise if now they miss the target, they will not be allowed to regain this status in future by all the Kashmir based parties and other national opponent groups.
All possible efforts will be made by their counter-parts to keep them away from the power chair. Whatever the BJP has got now is due to its underestimation by the PDP, NC and the Congress. They never even dreamt of the BJP to reach this point of success. The thumping success of BJP must be attributed to the ignorance and arrogance of its counterparts, not to the Modi wave or some special qualification of the BJP party cadre. Hence the BJP must accept the offer whatsoever comes to them and be the part of the Government so that they can improve or maintain their stance in the next elections. I don’t think the mission 44+ will ever be fulfilled by them ever in future and even if they improve, they can add at the most three or four more feathers to their cap that too if they come to power and do something spectacular for their long suffered people. It should not be bypassed that the BJP has been voted because the public was fed up with other parties and they wanted to heave a sigh of relief. If again the BJP remains away from power despite getting a lion’s share in the government excepting the Chair of Chief Minister-ship, they will either leave the Jammuites at the mercy of the same stereo-typed leadership of Jammu or will impose re-election on the poor public. And in both the cases the onus will be on the BJP. Therefore the BJP should set aside all egos and come to form the Government.
In the next election, the situation may be different and the political wind can blow against the BJP at the center as well as in the state. If the BJP agrees to be in power right now then the issues like reorganization of assembly seats, permanent rotational Chief Minister-ship for three years each (with Jammuite Chief Minister when the Secretariat is in Kashmir and the Kashmiri Chief Minister when the Darbar is at Jammu), special packages to this region, the multi-dimensional progress and prosperity of this province and so on can be discussed and redressed. No need to grapple over the trifling like Article 370, Uniform Civil Code or other mega issues which can never be set in order by Indian Government. People are concerned no more with these issues. They are concerned with the solution of their diurnal problems. Hence the BJP must think twenty times before ceasing to be in power.
