BJP promises rice at Re 1 per Kg, Laptop to students

BANGALORE, Apr 19:  The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka, which is striving for a second term, today assured 25 kg rice at Rupee one a kg to poor families and free Laptops, tablets to PUC and graduates if voted to power  again.

In a sops filled manifesto released here today by party veteran and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley, the BJP also assured that it would provide skill development training to nearly a million youths in the next five years and generate employment for them. The party also assured to provide free internet services to government schools and colleges.

The party assured life insurance to all BPL families and extension of crop insurance scheme at village unit level.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, who is leading the party’s electoral battle, said the party would seek the mandate on development agenda and ride on the back of its successful implementation of various programmes.

The aim is to provide a corruption-free clean government, he added.

The manifesto had drawn up a 19- point vision and priorities  of the party which also included reforms in energy sector, distribution of pure drinking water to all citizens, mobile medical service, emerging agricultural pump sets with solar power and action plan to make Karnataka a hut-free state, covering thatched huts with RCC, tiled roofs.
