JAMMU, Apr 26: Led by Jammu Mahanagar District President Rajesh Gupta, hundreds of party activists held a massive protest demonstration outside office of CAPD Director against anti-consumer decisions of the department. They also burnt the effigy of department and later submitted a memorandum to Assistant Director as Director was not present in the office.
Addressing the demonstrators Rajesh Gupta said that the consumers are made to suffer on account of the decision of CAPD to bring down the monthly quota of ration, as well as fixing quota of kerosene oil to just five litres, hike in prices of LPG and delay in releasing ration items to depots for public distribution. These decisions of the Government are forcing the consumers to purchase ration items from open market on higher rates, which is also putting financial burden on them.
He urged the Director CAPD to look into matter and reconsider the decisions so that the consumers will have a sigh of relief. He further demanded rationalization of ration scheme.
The party warned that in case the department fails to shun the anti people policies the BJP will be forced to intensify the State wide agitation.
