SRINAGAR, May 21: To express its anger BJP today staged a protest in Srinagar against the recent killing of former Sarpanch Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP Srinagar district president, Ashok Bhat, led the protest against the district administration Shopian for its alleged neglect in safeguarding the former Sarpanch. “We believe that the administration’s negligence led to the untimely death of Aijaz Ahmed Sheikh, and that is why we are calling for accountability and justice,” a BJP worker said. After the killing of Sheikh, the BJP Kashmir unit has initiated protests across every district, expressing their discontent and demanding action. The protesters have issued a stern warning to the administration, stating that if immediate action is not taken, the entire Kashmir unit will mobilise and march towards Shopian to stage a massive protest against the District Administration.
Ashok Bhat, speaking at the protest, emphasised the need for stringent measures to ensure the safety of BJP leaders and workers in the region. He called upon the authorities to take swift action and address the security lapses that have put the lives of political leaders at risk.

The protestors also held Pakistan responsible for terrorist activities in Kashmir and urged the neighbouring country to refrain from such activities.
