JAMMU, Aug 4: Former Minister and senior Congress leader Raman Bhalla today asked BJP to spell out achievements in J&K which they are celebrating one year completion of abrogation of Article 370 in J&K.
He questioned how the Government’s bid to bifurcate the erstwhile state into two union territories — J&K and Ladakh — last year following the scrapping of Article 370 of the Constitution and demonetisation in 2016 to wipe out terror financing has back-fired on it. He took a dig at the “strong” Government at the Centre for unabated terror activities in J&K. Despite demonetisation, there is no respite from terror activities and circulation of fake currency notes, which was touted as a big challenge for the Union Govt. He said civilians are being targeted by terrorists with impunity. The mess created by Govt has resulted in total administrative failure in the Jammu division, Bhalla said.
Interacting with people at Kullian in Gandhi Nagar constituency today Bhalla said that Modi Govt has proved most traumatic and devastating for the youth, farmers and traders of the country. He said people of J&K are cursing this insensitive Govt for ignoring them completely. He alleged that BJP leaders are busy only in delivering sermons to people. The fact remains that developmental activities are almost invisible and no concrete measures are taken to address the issues of livelihood. Most of the projects which are visualized, do not get started and those which have been started often do not meet their end.
Bhalla alleged that mega development projects, including expansion of Jammu Airport, the ring road project, 4- laning of Jammu-Akhnoor road, multi-tier parking at General Bus Stand, development of Tawi River Front, Jammu Ropeway project and the upcoming Legislative complex are moving at snail’s pace. No development has been seen on augmentation of Chenab Water Supply Scheme and Sewerage projects, restoration of Mubarak Mandi heritage complex, development of facilities at Suchetgarh under the border tourism, the AIIMS project, IIT and IIM Jammu campuses, he said.
PCC leader questioned the criminal silence of BJP leaders over pending MGNREGA liabilities amounting to crores, as a result of which thousands of poor workers are suffering for want of pending payments of their wages. He alleged that despite repealing of Article 370, homecoming, of Kashmiri Pandits, remained a distant dream. “The Government must tell us what transpired in the last one year in the state. What are the gains and what are the losses?” Bhalla asked.
