RAMNAGAR, Sept 11: A gathering of booth presidents and party cadres drawn from various far-flung areas of Ramnagar culminated in passing of a unanimous resolution seeking immediate declaration of State holiday on the birth anniversary of  Maharaja Hari Singh Ji, the last Dogra ruler of the Jammu & Kashmir State.
Ranbir Singh Pathania MLA Ramnagar while addressing the gathering said that the issue of declaring of holiday on the birth anniversary of Maharaja Hari Singh is as much social, emotional and evocative as it is political one. That is why, when a resolution to the effect was passed in the Legislative Council, it has stuck a chord not only with the people across the State but on the other side of LoC as well. Because given his political and administrative acumen, secular and reformist agenda, Maharaja Hari Singh had a trans-national approach and appeal. He stands tall on the political horizon of the State, country and international scene too.
Pathania said that Kashmiris, Dogras, Jats, Lamas, Paharis, Gujjars-Bakerwals etc are all an important part of the emancipative discourse on J&K, but talking about J&K  with a sense of willful neglect and self-created abhor for those who created the State is illogical as well as unjustified. He had given the trans-national concept and his visionary and modern approach in opening up of schools and colleges, opening up of temples for all, girl-education, banning child marriage, and various other reforms, Maharaja had laid the foundation of “Naya Jammu-Kashmir”, he added.
While taking a pot-shot on the section of politicians who have been labeling the Maharaja as anti-Kashmir, Pathania said that it was the Maharaja who banned any sort of construction around Dal Lake and termed Dal as “Heart of Kashmir”. He relayed his first address on the radio and named it as “Radio Kashmir Jammu”. State civil administrative and police services were named as Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) and Kashmir Police Service (KPS) in his tenure.
Whereas, party workers questioned that when a Gazetted Holiday can be declared on the birth anniversary of Late Shiekh Abdullah, then why so much fuss is being created over declaring the holiday on the birth anniversary of Late Maharaja.
Exhorting upon the party cadre to ensure that epoch-making schemes of Central Government are implemented and their benefits percolate up to the last. Central Government led by man of the millennium, Narendra Modi  has launched ‘Atal Pension Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awaas Yojana, MGNREGA, National Literacy Mission Programme,  Pradhan Mantri Adasrh Gram Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana’ and lot more.
