BJP rebel MLAs to protest against power, water crisis

JAMMU, June 13: Expressing grave concern over erratic power and water supply in Jammu, former Union MOS and MLA Jammu West Assembly Segment Prof Chaman Lal Gupta today said that all seven rebel MLAs will stage a demonstration on June 16 in front of Press Club here.
In a statement Prof Gupta said that the Government has taken people of Jammu region for granted and the same will not be tolerated any more. “Soon after the shifting of Civil Secretariat to Srinagar the power curtailments have increased to ten hours in various areas of the city and even in metered localities which were promised the un-interrupted power supply face power curtailments of long durations.
Prof Gupta said the power cuts have also hampered the water supply and people in various areas of city and outskirts are facing water shortage for days together. This is the result of the callousness of Coaliation Government, which forced the seven MLAs to resort to protest on June 16, he added.
He said large number of people from different parts of Jammu region are participating in the protest against the power and water crisis which the Jammu region is facing.
He said despites thousands of crores have been spent on power projects since 1947 in the state the power supply has not improved and every Summer people come across with the problem.
