BJP reiterates commitment on Shrines Bill

JAMMU, Apr 28: Bharatiya Janata party (BJP) president  Sat Sharma and general secretary  Ashok Koul have reiterated the party’s commitment to get the Shrine Bill for the protection of temples and shrines of Hindus in Kashmir passed.
They promised a delegation of Pt Prem Nath Baht Memorial Trust to take the first step in this direction by introducing the bill in the coming session of the State legislature. This was stated by Dr R L Bhat, the spokesperson of the Trust.
Various delegations of the Trust comprising of the prominent members of the community met ministers and the party leaders of the coalition Government to remind the two ruling parties of their stated commitment to the passage of the Shrine Bill. The delegations comprised of Dr A N Pandita, president Shadi Lal Koul general secretary, Dr R L Bhat spokesperson, and prominent members Dr B L Hando, M K Jalali, B L Zar,  Virinder Raina, Roshan Lal Pandita, Kuldeep Raina, Shiban Khaibri and others.
Besides the leaders of the BJP, the delegations met the ministers Naeem Akhtar and Abdul Rehman Veeri of the PDP. The ministers agreed that the status of the temples in the Valley was deteriorating and needed immediate measures to prevent further damage and decimation of the holy shrines. The delegation also apprised the ministers about encroachment upon the temple and shrine lands and the activities of the land mafia. They expressed their full support to the bill and also the need to preserve this ancient and rich cultural and religious heritage of the Valley.
