BJP remembers Ashfaqullah Khan on birth anniversary

JAMMU, Oct 22: Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP) Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh led by its State general secretary, Yudhvir Sethi remembered the contributions of freedom fighter Ashfaqullah Khan on his birthday today.
In this connection, party’s Sanskritik Cell organized a programme, in which the senior leaders of the BJP enlightened the party activists about the life, works and ideology of the legendry freedom fighter, Ashfaq Ullah Khan at party headquarter, Trikuta Nagar, here.

Yudhvir Sethi, while paying tributes to Ashfaq Ullah Khan highlighted his role in freedom struggle. He said that unexpected firings, death of civilians and then calling off the non-cooperation action gave birth to restlessness in Khan’s mind and thus his dwindling faith in non-violent strategies, led to his affiliation with the revolutionary group, Hindustan Republican Association (HRA), led by Ram Prasad Bismil. He remembered the famous “Kakori” incident that gave Goose bumps to imperial Government. He said that Ashfaqullah Khan was a great Urdu poet who always gave birth to patriotism in the hearts of youth.
