JAMMU, Oct 24:On the auspicious occasion of the 129th birth anniversary of Sher-e-Duggar Pt. Prem Nath Dogra, BJP State president, Shamsher Singh Manhas, alongwith other senior leaders performed havan and garlanded the statue of Panditji at Dogra Chowk on Wednesday followed by paying of rich tributes to this great nationalist leader in a held at party office.
The programme was organized by Jammu District BJP under its president Rajesh Gupta.
Remembering Pt. Prem Nath Dogra, Shamsher Singh Manhas said that this great Dogra leader was a man of principles and a vision which encouraged the nation loving people across the State to stand united for the complete integration of the State with the rest of the country. He said that the historic Ek Vidhaan-Ek Pradhan-Ek Nishaan agitation of Praja Parishad under the able stewardship of Pt. Prem Nath Dogra gave a new direction to the movement as a result of which the separate post of Prime Minister was abolished but the mission is still incomplete as there exists separate flag and separate Constitution.
Manhas said in 1947 India got freedom but unfortunately Jammu and Kashmir became a slave due to the pro-Sheikh approach of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who used his influence to get incorporated Article 370 in the Indian Constitution despite strong opposition from senior leaders of those days. He said that this special status has only harmed the State and its people instead of serving any purpose. The sooner this status goes, better it would be for the State. It is the root cause of unemployment in the State as no outsider can purchase land and set industry or big plants which can obviously provide jobs to thousands of youth.
He appealed the party activists to spread the message of Pandit Ji and mobilise their opinion to join hands with BJP to get rid of the separate symbols and the separate status.
Jammu District BJP general secretary Jaideep Sharma presented vote of thanks.
