SRINAGAR, Oct 10: President Jammu and Kashmir Bachao Tehreek and former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil today expressed concern over the recent political statements from the office of Governor saying such remarks question the position of a constitutional head of a sensitive state like Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement issued here, Vakil said Governor Satya Pal Malik should know that he is not a political head but a nominal head to function as an administrator and to supervise the functioning of the administration for a temporary period, by the time the new Assembly polls are held.
Vakil said his recent statement that NC and Congress are responsible for the present situation in State, is true without an iota of doubt that these parties has always betrayed mandate of people, but the Governor should restrain from political statements which only devalue his office and will add fuel to the fire in the present situation.
He said it is a fact that both NC and Congress ruled the State for most part of time said one thing in power and another thing out of power.
“The Congress time to time in Centre humiliated leadership in Kashmir. They kept Sheikh Abdullah in jail and brought him back and installed him as Chief Minister and withdrew support. Similarly, Bakshi Ghulam Mohd was humiliated, even 14 -member Assembly was defected and Farooq Abdullah was dethroned,” he said.
Vakil said for about more than two decades fake assemblies were made without participation of the people and the same process is being repeated by the present dispensation.
“I want to ask the Governor that his Government in state and BJP Govt in the Centre are adopting the policy of Congress. Fake local bodies’ elections are being held although situation is not conducive, ” Vakil added.
He said the recent statement of Governor that he knows who will be the mayor of Srinagar is surprising, how Governor is predicting. “This shows when Governor knows before election the Mayor of the city then it is a fixed match and elections are simply to befool the people and the country that everything is fine,” Vakil said.
