JAMMU, Feb 1: Senior BJP leader Dr Abhijeet Singh Jasrotia today alleged that by skipping the “Beating the Retreat” ceremony, Omar Abdullah as a Chief Minister has failed the spirit of Democracy, the Constitution of India, and the 148 crore people of India.
“This is for the first time in history that the Ministers from the CM’s cabinet including the CM himself have missed the ceremony which marks the celebration of our vibrant democracy. The CM should acknowledge the fact that he is CM because of the Constitution of India and should not make a mistake to miss the day being celebrated to mark the adoption of the Constitution by the Republic of India,” he said while addressing a press conference at BJP headquarters, here today.
Dr Abhijeet Jasrotia said that the Chief Minister Cabinet has insulted the Constitution, the Constitution makers and all those who laid down their lives to make India a Republic during the long freedom struggle.
He said that the INDI Alliance members, who are often seen carrying Constitution copies on their heads do not actually have any respect for it. “CM Omar is still living in Parivar-Tantra instead of Gana-Tantra, as he plainly ignores all the invitations from the officials of Government to attend the ceremony to mark the celebration of Gana-Tantra,” said Jasrotia.
Alleging that Omar Abdullah has played with the emotions of 148 crore people of India, the BJP leader asked the former to answer whether he and his council of Ministers have deliberately skipped the celebration of democracy.
Jasrotia slammed the class of political persons who still think of bringing another Constitution parallel to the Constitution of India and wish to raise another flag in front of the Tricolour of Republic of India.
During the press conference, Dr Abhijeet Singh Jasrotia was accompanied by Dr Pardeep Mahotra, State Media Secretary, J&K BJP and Dr Parneesh Mahajan, Incharge, Training Department.
