NEW DELHI, Apr 22: Addressing a series of public meetings, one after the other, in the last and closing phase of election campaign for Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said here that he was confident, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will set a new record in the Delhi poll scheduled to be held on Sunday.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, even before the polling has taken place and the result is out, the leaders of other parties including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have conceded defeat by issuing apologetic statements and betraying confusion. He referred to the former President of Mahila Congress Barkha Singh Shukla’s statement wherein she declared that Rahul Gandhi is mentally unfit to lead to the Congress, while the AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal stated that if BJP wins, there will be Dengue fever in every house.
It is not easy to fool the people of Delhi, said Dr Jitendra Singh and added that many of the politicians forget that the bulk of voter today is comprised of the youth who cannot be easily taken for a ride. He said, the common citizen today has the capacity to closely scrutinize the performance of each leader and each political party and then make an independent judgment without being influenced by anybody.
Calling upon the BJP Karyakartas to remain vigilant during the polling on Sunday, Dr Jitendra Singh said, it is possible that the Congress and AAP leaders may try to indulge in malpractices out of frustration and we will have to guard against that. He particularly appealed to the women workers and the Yuva Morcha activists to help in ensuring cent – percent voting in each of the Municipal Wards.
Referring to the election surveys conducted so far, Dr Jitendra Singh said, in the last two weeks of campaigning, some of our uncertain wards have also got converted into definite BJP winning wards and therefore he is convinced that the number of seats and mandate received by BJP will be much higher than that predicted in the surveys and it will cross the record margin of 200 plus.
