BJP should clear stand on security of Panchs, Sarpanchs: AJKPC

JAMMU, Nov 30: All J&K Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) has expressed concern over the stoic silence maintained by BJP on the demand of the organization in providing security to Panchs and Sarpanchs in J&K State where six Panchs and Sarpanchs have been killed in terrorist attacks so far since the constitution of Panchayats few years back.
In a statement issued here, today president of the conference Anil Sharma said that Panchs and Sarpanchs in the State are facing security threat. He said BJP Parliamentary Board in its meeting on November 5 had demanded enhancement of security cover for its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi but the Board failed to take up the issue of the Panchs and Sarpanchs of J&K State despite the fact that the Conference has written individual letters to all the members of Party’s Parliamentary Board on November 22.
Mr Sharma urged the BJP leadership to clear its stand on the security issue of the Panchs and Sarpanchs of the State who are facing threat from terrorists for taking the democratic process to grass root level.
He said Panchs and Sarpanchs especially in militancy infested areas of the State are facing threat to their lives and the BJP being the main opposition Party is duty bound to take up the issue with the Government and force it to provide the security to Panchs and Sarpanchs in the State who face threat.
