JAMMU, Oct 8: BJP senior leader, former general secretary of the party and ex Vice Chairman, JAKFED, Munish Sharma, has slammed the Power Development Department (PDD) for its total failure to ensure regular supply of electricity to the consumers.
In a statement issued here, today Sharma said unscheduled power cuts are imposed daily, during day and night time putting consumers to many hardships. People are made to suffer on account of these long cuts, which has superseded all the previous records, he added.
“There seems total mismanagement, unaccountability and complete failure of the Department”, Munish said and added that the Government should immediately take effective steps to restore faith of the people in PDD, as there is massive anger and resentment against it.
Munish said that there had been cuts in the past but not to the extent that electricity played hide and seek like these days.
The households are facing repeated cuts for hours together. There is electricity for one or two hours and remains off for 3-4 hours and this cycle keeps going every day, every night. The situation in rural areas is even worst, he said.
When J&K has mega power projects generating own electricity, it has a full -fledged transmission and distribution system, adequate number of officials and technical staff is posted at all levels, then what is that unidentified obstacle hindering the regular supply to the people, he questioned.
Munish Sharma said that instead of making lame excuses, the PDD should wake up, understand the gravity of the situation created due to cuts and set the things right to provide regular supply of electricity.
