SRINAGAR, Dec 1: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today held National Conference (NC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) responsible for the Lal Chowk blast and Sarpanch’s killing in Shopian district of South Kashmir and demanded probe into such incidents by Election Commission of India.
The Party demanded Election Commission of India (ECI) to order a proper inquiry into such incidents and immediately act against those leaders who are found to be involved in such incidents.
“The Lal Chowk blast and the Sarpanch killing is political terrorism. We want the administration here to cooperate in the probe,” BJP Vice-President, Advocate Ramesh Arora told media persons after releasing Party manifesto.
Arora said BJP doesn’t support political terrorism or any form of terrorism, but want peace and prosperity in the State.
“We understand that both NC and PDP are involved in this and it is for the people to analyse what the truth is. These are not vague allegations and police and other agencies here will have to take steps to stop such incidents irrespective of any high-profile people behind such incidents,” he said.
Accusing India’s neighbouring countries for not wishing development of the region, the BJP leader said: “Jammu and Kashmir is coming out of a huge turmoil. It is a place where international focus and interest is there as they – be it Pakistan, China or other countries – want that India should not grow. We want the place to grow”.
Commenting on the much hyped Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA), Arora said that if his Party comes to power in the State, it would create such an environment where there would be no need for this controversial Act.
“Our understanding is that if BJP comes to power in the State, there would not been any need of such a law (AFSPA). We will create such an atmosphere where there would be no fear and everything will move forward peacefully. This Government has failed to secure the atmosphere (for the law to go),” he added.
The BJP leader also said that it wants a debate and discussion on the Article 370 and the Party will involve complete public opinion on it.
Arora said that Kashmir valley is witnessing the ‘Modi-wave’ and unnerved by that, some leaders here, including Omar, are trying to communalize the atmosphere. “Rather than attacking us, he (Omar) should have listed his achievements before the people. Our understanding is that even centrally sponsored schemes have not been implemented properly here,” he said.
Meanwhile, BJP National Secretary, Tarun Chugh said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will address a political rally here at Sher-i-Kashmir Cricket Stadium and Union Finance Minister, Arun Jaitely will address an intellectual meet on December 3.
