SRINAGAR, Feb 28: BJP activists of Srinagar district held a candle light march here at Jawaharnagar this evening to protest against the killing of a minority community member by militants on February 26 at Achan Pulwama in Central Kashmir.
Under the leadership of BJP district president, Srinagar, Ashok Bhat a massive candle light protest was organized by district Srinagar Unit of the party to protest against the killing of a Kashmiri Pandit, Sanjay Sharma.
Addressing the protestors, Ashok Bhat said, since the takeover of reins of country by Narendra Modi led Government, the militants and Pakistan have felt heat of security forces as pressure on both militants and their sympathizers has increased many fold and they are in great desperation.
He said the result is evident and the normalcy is prevailing in the UT. He said, however, there are some elements in the society to whom normalcy does not suit and they are trying to sabotage the peace process.
Therefore, they abet and encourage acts like that of yesterday to exploit the situation for personal gains. He further said militancy is on ventilator and militants are desperate in showing their presence. Therefore, they are selecting soft targets.
He further said “Cowardly acts of unscrupulous elements of the society and their handlers across the border shall not deter us from our resolve to make the Jammu and Kashmir, peaceful and prosperous Union Territory of India,. At this time of grief we stand by the bereaved family of Sanjay Sharma and appealed to the LG Administration to provide reasonable ex-gratia relief and assistance to the dependents of the deceased so that they lead a respectable life”.
