JAMMU, May 20: BJP has taken serious exception to IAS officer turned politician Shah Faisal’s visit to Rohingyas Basti in Jammu in a bid to enroll them as members of his political outfit.
In their separate statements BJP spokespersons, Brig (retd) Anil Gupta and Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo have taken serious note of the meeting between Faisal and Rohingyas.
Brig Gupta in his statement said that Rohingyas who are foreign nationals have no locus standi to play electoral politics in J&K. He said this way Faisal was playing with fire. He said the Rohingyas are on the watch list and they have to be sent back to their country as announced by Union Home Ministry.
Brig Gupta said it is matter of concern that the number of Rohingyas is increasing instead of decreasing in Jammu region and this too has been brought in the notice of Governor of the State. Further the track record of Rohingyas clearly indicate that they are not only threat to national security but also to coexistence in Jammu region as they are known to be involved in human trafficking and drug trafficking as well as minor law and order problems including thefts.
He said the suspicious role played by them in Sunjwan attack is under investigation. In view of all this Faisal’s attempt to get cozy to them and enroll them in his party raises a needle of suspicion towards him.
Brig Gupta said that the Governor’s administration is once again requested to act quickly and swiftly against growing number of Rohingyas in Jammu and not wait for the threat to manifest. He said that the administration should also investigate the role of Faisal and his party in promoting the interests of Rohingyas in Jammu.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo also slammed antinational activities going on in various parts of Jammu region under the cover of sham political and socio-cultural activities. It was noticed that the Rohingya -the illegal immigrants in Jammu region were involved in regular political activity in the State by making them member activists of a new political outfit unleashed by a former IAS officer turned politician Shah Faisal.
He said Faisal’s birthday was also celebrated by the party under the leadership of Adv. Nazim Qazi with the Rohingyas at Jammu and these illegal immigrants moreover joined the People’s Moment for their safety, security and welfare. Though it is highly inappropriate and against the Constitutional provisions to involve foreign elements in any sort of socio-political activity more so when their stay in the State in itself is the severe most controversial political issue.
A lot of protests have been going on in the Jammu region against these illegal and unlawful immigrants over the last more than five years. There is near unanimity regarding their deportation and the Ministry of Home Affairs has passed very stringent orders with regard to their stay, detection and deportation. It is also a serious issue that a number of Government departments of the State have taken these illegal immigrants on contractual jobs in spite of knowing about their antecedents. They have not only been made a part of the regular socio-economic activity in the State but have also been provided access to enter households and dwelling complexes of the people in the city of Jammu under the garb of town development schemes. The Government is cautioned of these antinational and antisocial developments going on in the Jammu region and also appealed to put a stop to this unwarranted illegal business.
