BJP to intensify protests against Govt for not holding JMC elections

JAMMU, May 1: Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) today held a protest dharna outside Press Club against the Government for its failure in holding Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) elections.
BJP State President Shamsher Singh Manhas, while addressing said that the 73rd and 74th amendments have been implemented in most of the states, but State Government has never been serious towards implementing it.
He declared that BJP will intensify its protests and agitate against State’s Coalition for not holding the JMC elections on time.
Ashok Khajuria, MLA Jammu East, said that intentional delay on part of the Government to hold elections to JMC is an indicator that the Coalition Government is not in a position to face BJP.
National Executive Member and Chief Spokesperson of BJP Dr Jitendra Singh said that BJP has been raising the issue of 73rd and 74th amendments for the last one year and today other parties are taking our line and BJP’s stand has been vindicated as all the parties have now been accepting the demand for implementation of these amendments.
District President Rajesh Gupta charged the present coalition with not in favour of decentralization of powers, which is indeed unfortunate and needs to be condemned in strong words.
The dharna was organized by District President Rajesh Gupta and joined by senior leaders.
Among others present were Suresh Jamwal, Sat Sharma, Usha Choudhary, Kavinder Gupta, Yudhvir Sethi, Shiv Kumar Gupta, Munish Sharma, Vikram Randhawa, Jaideep Sharma, Rajinder Sharma, Aseem Gupta, Ashwani Sharma, Baldev Singh Belowria, Dalip Singh Parihar, etc.
