JAMMU, Jan 16: To devise the strategy for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April-May this year, the BJP High Command has convened a meeting of senior party leaders and office bearers here at party Headquarters on January 18.
The meeting besides, national general secretaries Sunil Bansal and Tarun Chugh will also be attended by Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh and party co in charge J&K, Ashish Sood.
According to sources, Sunil Bansal, Tarun Chugh, Dr Jitendra Singh and Ashish Sood will reach here early in the morning of January 18 to take part in the day long deliberations and devise strategy for coming elections of all five Lok Sabha constituencies of the UT of J&K.
Sources said BJP is holding meetings in all states and Union Territories on different dates to devise poll strategy and in J&K the meeting has been convened on January 18. The decision of convening these meetings was held in national office bearers meeting held at New Delhi recently. Party general secretary (Org), Ashok Koul who is camping in Union Capital for last two days has met several senior party leaders in this regard. He will return tomorrow to be available in the meeting, sources added.
They said the main objective of the meeting will be to frame strategy to concentrate on those areas where the BJP has not fared well in last elections to ensure that this time party gets good percentage of votes from these areas too.
Sources said, BJP though eyeing all the five Lok Sabha seats of the UT, will, however, fully concentrate on Anantnag Poonch-Rajouri constituency besides, Jammu-Samba and Kathua, Udhampur, Doda Lok Sabha seats to get this seat in its kitty also. The party will focus on weak areas in this constituency and make all efforts to overcome the shortcoming if any to ensure its victory, sources added.
Sources said as the development and welfare of the people of the UT being the main agenda of the Narendra Modi Government, the party rising on this plank is optimistic to get an overwhelming public support in all the five Lok Saba constituencies in the UT of J&K.
The senior party leaders from Delhi will discuss threadbare the pros and cons of the party policy and programmes with UT leaders and the impact of the Modi Government’s welfare schemes on the people, sources said. They will also seek their views on election preparedness, sources added.
Sources said as BJP is concentrating to seek 51 percent plus vote share, the party leadership will be asked to make contact with voters at grassroots level. The important part of the election strategy will be strengthening of booths, enrolling maximum number of fresh voters, making contacts with youth by organizing youth Samelans, concentrating on women voters who form 50 percent of electorate, holding rallies of national leaders and highlighting the benefits of various welfare measures taken by the Modi Government for the common masses, sources added.
Sources said to counter the opposition strategy to field a united candidate, BJP is determined to seek 51 percent plus polled votes to ensure that party achieves its 400 plus target in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections this time. The party will leave no stone unturned in this regard and it will jump in the electioneering lock, stock and barrel to achieve the desired target this time, sources added.
Sources said the Central leaders will also seek feedback on booth Jan Samwad which is concluding on January 20 and Viksit Bharat Jan Samparak Yatra which is culminating on January 25. The party central leadership will make it binding on the UT leaders to ensure that no person irrespective of his party affiliation is left without taking benefit of Modi Government welfare schemes, sources added.
Sources said the strategy for ‘Gaon Chalo Abhiyan’ will also be devised in the meeting which will be started after January 26 all over the country. Under this programme two party leaders will camp for 24 hours in every village to interact with people, seek feedback from them on the welfare schemes and their benefits etc.
Sources said January 18 meeting will be followed by party all Morchas meeting next day in which the Morcha leaders will be assigned the task to ensure personnel repot with the people.
This will be followed by holding of concluding ceremony of booth Jansamwad programme on January 20, sources added.
