POONCH, May 29: The non implementation of 73rd and 74th Constitutional amendment regarding empowerment of Panchyats and Municipal corporations dominated the discussions between the various delegations and the BJP Parliamentary Study Group members who visited the twin districts of Poonch and Rajouri today.
Almost all the delegations of the people, which met the Party Study Group in Poonch and Rajouri demanded implementation of the report in toto for empowerment of Panchayts and municipal corporations in the State.
The Parliamentary Study Group assured the delegations that they will take the care of aspirations of people of hilly belt of Rajouri and Poonch in their report.
Ravi Shanker Parasad the national chief spokesperson of the Party who joined the Study Group at Rajouri this afternoon after his arrival from Union Capital today assured the members of the delegations that the issues raised by them will be covered in their report which is to be submitted to Party chief Nitin Gadkari.
Assuring full support of the BJP to the people of twin districts of Rajouri and Poonch who had played a remarkable role during Pak invasion of 1947, 1965 and 1971 wars, the members of the group said that like Jammu and Ladakh they people of this hilly belt are also facing discrimination and this discrimination will end now.
Earlier J P Nadda MP and national general secretary BJP along with other BJP leaders visited Poonch and met various deputations there. The deputations which called on the Study Group members at Poonch included Bar Association, Poonch, Pahari Welfare Forum, Ex-servicemen League, Unjaman-e-Jafriya, Poonch, Sanatan Dharam Sabha, Poonch, Border Front, Para Medical Technocrats, Militancy affected migrants, Tribal Gujjars Forum and Intellectuals Forum.
They besides keeping their demands gave memorandums also to the Study Group.
At Rajouri eight delegations including Pahari Cultural Forum met the Study Group and gave memorandums.
The Study Group will visit Reasi district tomorrow. The State BJP leaders who accompanied the Study Group in the twin districts included Ashok Khajuria, Jugal Kishore Sharma (MLAs) Sat Sharma (CA) general secretary, Chander Parkash Ganga senior vice president, Chander Mohan Sharma and Vivodh Gupta secretary.
Another team of the Study Group including Abhinash Roy Khanna and Basav Roy Patil both MPs visited Kishtwar district and met a large number of delegations to ascertain their views. The Group was accompanied by BJP National Executive Member, Dr Nirmal Singh and Satish Sharma, party general secretary.
