JAMMU, June 4: A deputation of Tourism Cell of BJP J&K UT comprising of Rajive Gupta (CA), Sanjeev Gupta (Co-convenors Tourism Cell), Jorawar Singh (Member of Tourism Cell) led by its Convenor of the Cell Ravi Bakshi called on Director Tourism, Vivekanand Rai last evening and discussed tourism development related issues of Jammu region.
During the meeting, the BJP Tourism Cell projected several issues related to neglect of certain areas of tourism potential and raising additional infrastructure to cater to the rush of tourists during summer months. At the same time, they unanimously extended gratitude to the Director Tourism for the success of the G20 event in J&K. They also expressed gratitude to Lt Governor for the opening Jamboo Zoo at Nagrota By-pass and said that it will attract a number of tourists and pilgrim-tourists visiting Katra Mata Vaishnodevi.
They pointed out that with the opening of Tirupatibala Ji Temple at Sidhra shortly and Lake on Tawi River, more and more tourists will be attracted to Jammu. The direct train service to Katra has impacted business and economy of Jammu City and all out efforts must be put in to make Jammu a favoured tourist destination.
They said as Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra is going to start in the Ist week of July, the BJP Tourism Cell has prepared District teams to facilitate the Administration and assist in solving any issue regarding the tourists, medical-aid, Langars etc.
The BJP Tourism Cell suggested to open more and more new destinations for the tourists in Udhampur, Jammu, Reasi, Doda, Kishtwar, Kathua, Rajouri and Poonch so that local economy of these areas is raised and youth of the area could get employment opportunities. They suggested to prepare new projects for these areas after sending teams of experts.
They said Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has been taking all the steps and the administration is also working to ensure smooth pilgrimage which will start on 1st July and culminate on August 31 on the eve of Rakshabandhan. This year, Yatra will be of record 62 days. The highlight of the yatra will be the morning and evening Aarti which will be telecasted live for the people around the world.
