BJP trying to suppress agitation for AIIMS: Cong

JAMMU, Aug 1: Accusing the BJP leadership of Jammu for trying to crush the agitation of Jammu people over AIIMS issue, the senior PCC leaders from Jammu today said that this move may prove counter productive for the BJP.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, the former Ministers Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla and PCC chief spokesperson Ravinder Sharma launched a scathing attack on the BJP, the coalition partner of PDP in the Government for trying to crush and sabotage the agitation for seeking full fledged AIIMS in Jammu, by using force. They said the BJP can not suppress the voice of the Jammu people by using police force and committing brutalities on them.
They strongly condemned the incident of lathi-charge on AIIMS Coordination Committee Chairman and J&K High Court Bar, Jammu, president Abhinav Sharma and other members of Coordination Committee in Jammu today.
They said that on Friday also, the BJP workers attacked the Coordination Committee members near Kachi Chawani which is very unfortunate. It shows that the BJP activists, out of their frustration are resorting to such tactics of violence and lawlessness. The BJP leadership stood exposed before the people and their actual face has come to the lime light.
The PCC leaders alleged that BJP always claimed itself as the only party caring for the aspirations of the people of Jammu and struggling for it for the last 4-5 decades. They had taken the people of Jammu for granted. But now they  meekly  surrendered the interests of Jammu people before the Kashmir based leadership. They are only power hungry and can go to any extent for the sake of grabbing power. They strongly condemned the police lathi-charge and lobbing of tear gas shells on the peacefully agitating members of AIIMS CC in Gandhinagar and Jewel Chowk.
While according full support to the Coordination Committee, the PCC  leaders asked the Jammu people to get prepared for the long agitation for seeking full- fledged AIIMS for Jammu. They also condemned the BJP leadership for  airing deceitful and fake messages through mobile phones to mislead the Jammu people over aims with the purpose to sabotage the agitation.
