BJP undermining foundational pillars of country’s federal framework: Masoodi

JAMMU, Jan 28: Member of Parliament (MP) Hasnain Masoodi today accused the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Central dispensation of deliberately undermining the foundational pillars of the country’s federal structure.
Speaking during a meeting of the Legal Cell of the National Conference, Masoodi emphasized the imminent risk posed by the ruling Government’s actions to the core principles of India’s federal framework.
The meeting, organized by Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of JKNC, Jammu, and chaired by Advocate Dinesh Singh Chouhan, Provincial Chairman of the Legal Cell, witnessed Masoodi urging members to recognize the severity of the issue.
He asserted that the ruling dispensation’s policies are eroding the federal fabric of the nation, posing a significant threat to the principles that have long defined Indian democracy.
Masoodi stressed the urgency to address the challenges affecting India’s constitutional integrity. He underscored the gravity of the situation, stating that the very essence of the country’s federal structure is under severe threat.
The Senior NC leader called for a unified response to safeguard the democratic values enshrined in the Constitution.
Additional General Secretary Ajay Kumar Sadhotra emphasized the need for a public-friendly attitude within the legal fraternity. He highlighted the party’s commitment to ensuring legal processes are perceived as approachable and supportive for all citizens.
Rattan Lal Gupta urged members of the Legal Cell to actively engage at the grassroots level, providing assistance to individuals entangled in legal disputes due to the present regime’s policies. He emphasized the Legal Cell’s critical role in addressing the legal challenges faced by common people.
Nasir Aslam Wani, Provincial President, JKNC, Kashmir, stressed the crucial role lawyers must play in defending the Constitution and the federal structure. He urged the legal fraternity to unite in safeguarding the democratic values that define the country’s political landscape.
DS Chauhan, President, Legal Cell, JKNC, emphasized lawyers’ role as social engineers deeply connected with the public. He highlighted the importance of bridging the gap between the legal community and the public, underscoring the party’s commitment to inclusive governance and social justice.
The meeting concluded with new additions to the party, including Adv Joginder Singh, Registrar Retired, J&K High Court, and another advocate, joining in the presence of senior functionaries.
