JAMMU, Feb 9: Braving harsh weather in hilly and far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir, BJP workers in large numbers travelled on foot to cover different booths in many areas of the erstwhile Doda district and other mountainous areas on the second day of the “Gaon Chalo Abhiyan” today.
Dalip Singh Parihar, senior leader and former MLA, along with local booth president, Ashok Kumar, reached booth number 135 in snow-bound Gandoh in Doda district. He interacted with prominent persons, the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes and sought feedback about various schemes of the Modi Government meant for the socio-economic upliftment of the different sections of society.
BJP senior leader and former minister Sat Sharma reached booth number 7 in Toph Sherkhania area of Jammu West under “Gaon Chalo Abhiyan”, where he discussed the programmes and policies of BJP and the welfare schemes of Modi-led Union Government.
Former Deputy Chief Minister, Kavinder Gupta reached booth number 87 of Bahu constituency while BJP vice president, Yudhvir Sethi covered booth number 119 in Ward 10 of Jammu East.
Vice-president and former Minister, Shakti Raj Parihar, reached village Kuthyara in Assar Mandal of Doda district. BJP vice-president and former Minister, Sham Lal Sharma covered Kangrail village of Amb Gharota Mandal.
Vice president and former Minister, Surjeet Singh Salathia, reached booth numbers 70 and 71 in Mandigarh in Gurrah Salathia. BJP senior leader and former Minister, Chander Prakash Ganga, undertook the Abhiyan in the village Patti of Vijaypur Mandal.
Former Minister, Sukhnandan Choudhary, reached Flora village of Marh Mandal and former Minister Bali Bhagat covered booth number 57 in Lower Roop Nagar under the Abhiyan. Akhnoor district president and former MLA, Rajiv Sharma undertook the Abhiyan in booth number 84 of Akhnoor Mandal.
BJP spokesperson and former MLA, R.S. Pathania, reached the village Panjian in Khoon Mandal of Udhampur District.
BJP general secretary and former Minister, Dr. Devinder Kumar Manyal, along with Samba district president, Kashmira Singh, party leaders Kulbhushan Jasrotia, Vinod Singh Sambyal, Mohinderpal and Shivati Sharma, addressed the “Gaon Chalo Abhiyan” workshop in Bain village of Rajpura-Bain Glad Mandal of Samba district. Later, they gave a warm send off to 21 booth convenors.
Former MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia reached village Cherry Swail in Narsoo Mandal of Chenani constituency. Trikuta Nagar Mandal president, Lucky Puri, along with Mandal general secretaries Rajinder Koul and Nayan Gupta, flagged off party leaders from party headquarters for different booths of Trikuta Nagar Mandal.
BJP incharge All Cells, Rakesh Mahajan initiated Gaon Chalo Abhiyan at Booth Number 132 Mandal Trikuta Nagar.
“Gaon Chalo Abhiyan” State incharge Pawan Khajuria, while speaking on the second day of the Abhiyan, said that the BJP workers are doing a great job during their stay in the allotted villages of the UT.
Co-incharge of the Abhiyan, Sanjay Baru said the Goan Chalo Abhiyan is a revolutionary initiative of the party.
