Srinagar, Nov 25: People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti today said that BJP is feeling unnerved over the PAGD leadership’s decision of joining the DDC poll fray and that was why the Alliance candidates are barred from campaigning in Southern districts and other parts of Kashmir.
Speaking to reporters at Zainapora, Shopian, the PDP president said that she had come to Zainapora to meet the PAGD candidate who was not unfortunately allowed for the past 15 days to come out of his home so that he could do his campaigning.
Mehbooba said that the LG and Sharma are making false claims that all candidates are allowed to campaign. “LG Manoj Sinha and SEC KK Sharma are making false claims that every candidate is allowed to go for campaigning. That’s why today, I came here myself to tell people of Zainapora and Shopian to vote for only PAGD candidates for God’s sake so that BJP is kept away,” she said. Click here to watch video
The PDP president said that PAGD candidates will work hard for the J&K’s identity. “They (BJP) will use grenades and guns to bag seats, but people should defeat BJP this time and ensure victory of PAGD candidates,” she said
Mehbooba said that Centre was of the belief that parties like National Conference, PDP, Peoples Conference and CPI (M) won’t participate in DDC polls so that they can ensure the victory of their candidates through “backdoor channels.”
Asked about the name of former PDP leader Haseeb Drabu surfacing among the 900 people who have allegedly grabbed land under Roshni scam, the PDP president said that BJP is using ploys to divert attention. “At times, it uses ED to summon Farooq Abdullah and now Roshni scam is a new ploy. If I would be found involved in Roshni Scam, I will be the first person to choose jail,” she said.
She vouched for Parra’s integrity, honesty and character who was arrested by NIA today.
“I can personally vouch for Waheed’s integrity, honesty & character. Its upto the judiciary now to dispense justice & ensure @parawahid is released at the earliest, she tweeted.
“Waheed was illegally arrested for more than a year in 2019. Yet his belief in democracy didn’t waver & he chose to contest DDC elections. Seems like those who place their faith in the power of democracy will earn the wrath of a hostile & communal Government”, she tweeted.
“PDP’s @parawahid applauded by then HM@rajnathsingh for strengthening democracy in J&K has been arrested on baseless charges by NIA today. No coincidence that he filed his nomination for DDC on 20th Nov & received NIA summons next day itself,” she tweeted.
“Waheed has no connection whatsoever with this man & is being falsely charged. All just to blackmail & intimidate PDP & other mainstream political parties in J&K”, she tweeted.
