JAMMU, Apr 25: A meeting of social activists and retired officers of Government, banks and Public Sector Undertakings was conducted at BJP Headquarters, Trikutanagar here, today which discussed the plan to involve the retired people from the banks, Government and PSUs into the ideological fold of BJP. As the ideological challenges are manifold, so is the need for involvement of people with social consciousness with the Bharatiya Janata Party under the leadership of PM, Narendra Modi.
The meeting was presided over by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, BJP State spokesman on Kashmir affairs. Rajiv Sharma, an NRI based in Copenhagen-Denmark, who basically belongs to Jammu and is the son of the soil, also joined the discussion along with Kulbhushan Mahotra, incharge-Documentation and Library. Sharma is a member of the NRI team that is presently in India to campaign for the PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi Parliamentary Constituency. Naresh Verma, president, BJP Pradesh OBC Morcha also participated in the strategy meeting.
The meeting among others was attended by S.P.Sharma, T.B.Kaul, A.K.Bhat, Vijay Gupta and R.J.Kachroo.
Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, in his speech said that the BJP besides being a political party is also a social movement. The fundamentals of the party’s ideology have social orientation. BJP treats social cohesion, ideological commitment, national security, cultural nationalism and development for all as the core issues that need deep penetration into the grass root level within the society. All sections of the social base have their importance and role, he added.
Chrungoo said Article 370 and Article 35A have created a State within the state in Jammu & Kashmir. The deserving sections of the society have been neglected due to these absurd laws that have left people lurking with the fear of losing their citizenship. The arbitrary and anti-fundamental rights environment have been created to benefit a few politicians who would love to shy away from the issues of development, education, health issues, technical advancement, entrepreneurship and environment in the State, he added.
