UDHAMPUR, Apr 6: In a series of road-shows and a meeting of prominent citizens of Udhampur, BJP candidate for Udhampur-Kathua- Doda constituency, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today, BJP is committed to remove regional imbalance in the State and when Narendra Modi Government takes over as Prime Minister in New Delhi, it will devise a mechanism to ensure equitable distribution of Central funds to each region and district. This will also remove the long-standing grievance that districts like Udhampur have always been discriminated against,he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the Union Health Minister had made a farcical and impractical announcement about opening up of new Medical Colleges in the State while the Congress-National Conference (NC) Government had made BPL ration cards for the relatives of Ministers and bureaucrats even as the deserving poor had been left out. This amounted to abuse of the initiatives undertaken by the Vajpayee Government both in terms of opening of All India Medical Institutes in the country and the “Antoday” scheme for the poor, he alleged.
The reorganization of districts was also Kashmir-centric and the then Chief Minister from Congress party had created irrational new districts for Kashmir in the garb of granting Jammu its share of extra districts, said Dr Jitendra Singh. This had further compounded the financial as well as social imbalance,he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, Narendra Modi Government will also take up the issue of VDCs and SPOs on priority and order an impartial probe into 25000 crore Roshni scam. Implementation of PMGSY and other Central schemes will also be rationalised, he added.
The taking over of Narendra Modi Government at the Center will mark an end of the era of appeasement unleashed by separatist-friendly parties in Jammu & Kashmir, claimed Dr Jitendra Singh and said, a vote for India is what the BJP is asking for.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, when Narendra Modi takes over as PM, we should be in a position to claim that the Udhampur seat had also contributed to his tally of absolute majority.
Pawan Gupta,Pawan Khajuria and Dina Nath Bhagat were also present at these meetings.
